The National Law Journal has published its “2016 Pro Bono Hot List,” citing Cleary Gottlieb for our June 2015 victory in a case about “conversion therapy” that claimed to convert gay men to heterosexuality.
Cleary partner Jim Bromley led a team that worked with the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and Lite DePalma Greenberg on Michael Ferguson v. JONAH, resulting in a unanimous jury verdict against JONAH.
SPLC Deputy Legal Director David Dinielli told the NLJ that Cleary’s pro bono team “didn’t just show up for the fun stuff; they played a central role in every discovery kerfuffle, every deposition, every expert report, and every court argument,” adding, “When it came to the jury trial, the Cleary team knocked it out of the park.”
