Cleary Gottlieb’s Beijing office opened in 2006. With integrated U.S., Hong Kong and English law capability, lawyers in our Beijing and Hong Kong offices represent Asian and non-Asian clients in international securities offerings and financial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, restructurings, privatizations, project finance matters, regulatory and antitrust matters, and other corporate transactions.

We assist many of the firm’s non-Asian clients with their investment and trade projects in Asia, including a number of pioneering joint ventures, private equity acquisitions and financings. Our lawyers also work for a number of sovereign clients in the region, including on capital markets transactions, debt restructurings and project finance matters.

Reflecting the firm’s overall commitment to creating a seamlessly interwoven legal practice, our Beijing office is not departmentalized by specialty. Many lawyers have had international experience, including rotations in one or more of our offices around the world; they are fluent in managing international transactions and dispute resolutions and collaborate easily with global colleagues. All our lawyers handle a wide variety of assignments and work cooperatively to share abilities across practices and jurisdictions.
