Compensation and Benefits

The compensation offered to our lawyers is highly competitive in the United Kingdom.

The principles governing compensation of our partners are also applied to our associates and trainee solicitors. Thus, compensation is in general based only on the seniority of the associate/trainee concerned and is not linked to the achievement of specific performance criteria. In particular, we do not have any targets relating to hours or other measurements of associates’ achievements or commitment. We expect, however, each lawyer within the firm to give his or her best and to strive for excellence.

We currently pay newly qualified solicitors £96,000 including a 5 percent pension contribution. For those trainee solicitors joining us in 2016, the salary is £48,000 for the first 12 months, rising to £52,000 in the second year. In the past, discretionary bonuses have also been paid.

Associates and trainee solicitors also receive a number of customary benefits. Additional benefits include:

  • Fitness subsidy
  • Private health care cover
  • Life insurance of twice annual salary
  • Dental insurance
  • Health screening
  • Long-term disability insurance
  • Childcare vouchers
  • Back-up care
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Subsidised staff restaurant
