Cleary Gottlieb’s Moscow office opened in 1991. Since establishing our office, we have handled a wide range of assignments for the Russian government and in the country’s private sector, where our lawyers focus on capital markets, syndicated loans, merger and acquisitions, and general corporate and litigation matters.

We represent both U.S. and European companies that have business interests in Russia, as well as Russian companies in cross-border transactions and financings.

In recognition of our Moscow team’s work on behalf of clients, the International Financial Law Review has named Cleary its “Russian Law Firm of the Year” from 2013 to 2016, and seven times overall since the award’s inception in 2003.

Reflecting the firm’s overall commitment to creating a seamlessly interwoven legal practice, Cleary’s Moscow office is not departmentalized by specialty. Our lawyers also have had international experience, including rotations in one or more of our offices around the world; they are fluent in managing international transactions and dispute resolutions and collaborate easily with global colleagues. They all handle a wide variety of assignments and work cooperatively to share abilities across practices and jurisdictions.
