Make the Road New York Celebrates Cleary’s Pro Bono Partnership
April 19, 2018
Cleary Gottlieb and the Kathryn O. Greenberg Immigrant Justice Clinic at Cardozo Law School were honored by Make the Road New York for their partnership with the organization to hold corrupt attorneys accountable for deceptive immigration scams.
Make the Road New York, Cleary, and the Immigrant Justice Clinic are working together to seek justice for victims of the “Ten-Year Fraud,” a scam that preys on the deportation fears of immigrant communities. Unscrupulous lawyers exploit immigrants’ attempts to get legal status by deceiving them that they can get a visa or permanent resident card after living in the U.S. for 10 years.
Cleary and the Immigrant Justice Clinic received the honor – which recognizes organizations for their leadership in defending New York’s immigrant and working-class communities – at Make the Road New York’s Briefing from the Grassroots event.
