Severin Klinkmüller’s practice focuses on international arbitration and litigation and public international law matters, including investor-state disputes, inter-state disputes, and European Union law.

Severin joined the firm in 2017.

Prior to joining the firm, he served as a law clerk in the European Commission’s Legal Service and the German Federal Foreign Office.

Notable Experience

  • The Republic of Iraq in an ICC arbitration against the Republic of Turkey for breaches of intergovernmental agreements governing the operation of transnational oil pipelines in connection with the use of the pipeline and related facilities to transport, store, and load crude oil extracted from the Kurdistan region.

  • The Hellenic Republic in an ICSID arbitration brought by Bank of Cyprus Public Co. Ltd under the Cyprus-Hellenic Republic bilateral investment treaty arising out of measures taken by the Hellenic Republic in 2012 to address its financial and sovereign debt crisis.

  • The Hellenic Republic in an ICSID arbitration brought by Cyprus Popular Bank Public Co. Ltd under the Cyprus-Hellenic Republic bilateral investment treaty arising out of measures taken by the Hellenic Republic in 2012 to address its financial and sovereign debt crisis.
