EMEA Business Development Manager – Corporate and Private Equity

This role is to carry out business development activities for the Corporate and Private Equity practice and clients in the EMEA region.

Purpose

The Business Development Manager will:

  • Manage and proactively execute the EMEA practice group strategy plans for M&A and Private Equity
  • Work closely with BD colleagues in the U.S.
  • Identify key clients, targets, and opportunities
  • Manage a number of global key clients and lead on client feedback
  • Draft credentials and pitches
  • Create products and touchpoints to be used with clients
  • Facilitate communication between practice partners and sector interest groups
  • Identify and communicate new business opportunities
  • Support cross-selling initiatives
  • Lead and contribute to pan-EMEA business development projects
  • Manage two direct reports

Key Responsibilities

Practice Support

  • Develop and execute EMEA BD plans for the M&A and Private Equity practice
  • Develop and maintain key messages, marketing materials, standard slides, credentials, and pitch materials for key practices
  • Analyze and track key clients and targets and BD plans for individual clients
  • Support cross-selling efforts for example by identifying new business opportunities within a specific sector or group of clients
  • Organize and attend partner meetings, create agendas, document actions and follow-up on actions
  • Work with the Marketing Communications team on profile raising and thought-leadership initiatives for key practices and sectors

Pitch Support

  • Prepare credentials and pitches, tailoring materials for individual clients
  • Share pitch and CRM best practice within the EMEA BD team
  • Track, store, and produce standard text and materials for pitches
  • Ensure consistency of pitch material and seek improvements in quality
  • Support client presentations

Client Relationship Management

  • Act as Client Manager for up to three of the firm’s key clients
  • Keep client teams informed of any key client developments
  • Undertake research and analysis on clients, markets, and sectors
  • Manage data held on key clients, especially on Dynamics and client development meeting databases
  • Lead on client feedback initiatives

Client Communication

  • Draft client communications
  • Oversee contact lists and mailing lists for key clients receiving relevant thought leadership

Skills and Competencies

Education/Experience

  • Educated up to degree level or equivalent
  • Minimum 3-5 years of business development experience at an international law firm or professional services organization
Skills
  • Fluent in English. Another European language would be advantageous, but is not essential
  • Good knowledge of M&A and/or Private Equity sector
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
