Risk Analyst
The purpose of this role is to assist the Risk team globally in advising senior management, partners, legal and office staff on legal matters affecting the Firm, including: on-boarding new clients and matters in line with the Firm’s procedures; the production and maintenance of policies in key areas; the implementation of internal risk processes; and the provision of relevant training.
The Risk Analyst is responsible for advising on day to day queries as well as taking the lead on specific projects as new regulations or areas come into force, producing and providing first level analysis of reports for Conflict Check Requests relating to new business, Lateral Hires and Trade Report Requests, and carrying our client due diligence on new clients and matters. The Risk Analyst is required to react to new and pressing situations and provide clear and commercial advice.
Main Responsibilities
- Producing and providing first level analysis of reports for Conflict Check Requests relating to new business, Lateral Hires and Trade Report Requests
- Facilitating the client and matter on-boarding process by conducting risk checks on new clients and new mandates: conflicts of interest, client due diligence, sanctions and reputational risk checks;
- Responsible for reviewing, gathering, and maintaining client due diligence evidence;
- Carrying out analysis and identifying any additional information required or steps to be taken (for example, the setting up of information barrier arrangements or insider lists);
- Monitoring changes to relevant rules and regulations (e.g. AML, SRA) and assisting with the updating and communication of associated risk policies and processes;
- Assisting with risk training and communications;
- Answering queries from partners, fee earners and staff at all levels relating to the interpretation of relevant legislation, regulation and Firm policies pertaining to regulatory law, risk management, commercial risk issues and other compliance matters;
- Assisting with maintaining databases, records of processing activities, breach log, risk registers and internal know-how.
- Assisting with risk support to the Firm’s procurement function;
- Undertaking research and analysis;
- Liaising with the Firm’s regulators, particularly the SRA;
- Working on ad hoc projects that arise from to-to-time.
Skills and Competencies
- 2-3 years’ experience in conflicts resolution and CDD within an international law firm.
- Good understanding of conflicts and AML rules as well as geo-politics and related governance issues.
- Familiar with professional bar rules, DAC6, AML and sanctions regulations applicable to the Firm’s activities.
- Experience with IntApp or other conflicts management tools is a plus but not required.
- Good understanding of corporate structures, including companies, trusts and partnerships.
- Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to give clear written advice.

- Strong prioritisation skills and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
