Cleary Gottlieb partner Manuel Silva and international lawyer Martin Vainstein spoke on the panel “Contractual Mechanisms to Prevent and Punish Corruption in the Private Sector,” which was co-organized by the American Chamber of Commerce of Mexico (AmCham) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Manuel examined the use of anti-corruption clauses in cross-border agreements and their implications in complex transactions with financial institutions such as bond offerings. Martin discussed the mechanisms that parties can provide in their commercial contracts to manage corruption disputes and the reaction of international investment tribunals to cases involving allegations of corruption.
