Cleary Gottlieb hosted a virtual conversation, “Cultivating Allyship & Building a Coalition of the Willing,” with Wajahat Ali, acclaimed author, TED speaker, and The Daily Beast columnist.

Wajahat imagines a world remade: people united by shared values. In this session, Ali encouraged participants to harness their differences as a uniting force. He guided them in creating a “Multicultural Coalition of the Willing,” which is a sort of Justice League where people can unite over commonalities and celebrate their unique identities. He also discussed what it means to inspire, be a champion for real change, and to continually invest in hope for the future, together.

Author, TED speaker, award-winning playwright, and Peabody-nominated producer, Wajahat uses his platform to fight tirelessly for social change and uses his experiences of triumph over hardship as a beacon of hope and resilience in the face of life’s impossible situations. From his experiences of Islamophobia growing up as a Muslim Pakistani-American to his two-year-old daughter’s liver cancer diagnosis, Wajahat is living proof that when we share our authentic stories, we build the America we wish to live in.
