Global Benefits and Compensation Roundtable Webcasts

November 1, 2013

Overview

The Global Benefits and Compensation Roundtable, organized by Cleary Gottlieb and Seyfarth Shaw, and sponsored by The Conference Board, will entail bi-monthly discussions streamed live globally via webcast. The first discussion, described below, occurred Friday, November 1, 9:30 AM (New York time).

The mission of the Roundtable is to be an educational forum focused on international, cross-border, compensation, retirement and other benefits matters. The discussion will focus on cross-border considerations, rather than a country by country review of applicable laws. Discussions will be led by experts in the various topics, who will come from diverse disciplines - legal, accounting, actuarial, trust and custodial services, investment management, banking and plan administration - and backgrounds.

The topic of our November 1 discussion was compensation and benefit considerations in cross-border outsourcing arrangements. Among other aspects of these arrangements, the discussion focused on compensation and benefits issues in outsourcing transactions involving a sale of a business function combined with a services agreement back to the seller.

The following is a schedule of future planned discussions:

  • January 21, 2014 - Management tax issues in cross-border M&A
  • March 25, 2014 - Cross-border non-competition, confidentiality and intellectual property agreements
  • May 27, 2014 - Pension governance, investment and risk management on a global basis
  • July 29, 2014 - Tax equalization program design and implementation
  • September 30, 2014 - Cross-border equity plan administration issues

Members of the Roundtable, including experts from leading global professional services and financial firms and multinational corporations, will contribute to each of the discussions. Cleary Gottlieb partner Arthur Kohn will be co-moderating the discussions.
