Cleary Gottlieb Client Wins U.S.-based Derivative Action in Rome Court of Appeals

In its decision of July 1, 2013, the Rome Court of Appeals granted the application of Mr. Dennis A. Reid, on behalf of USRT Holdings and U.S. Russian Telecommunications, ruling that a Letter of Request from the Delaware Court of Chancery be enforced in Italy. The Rome Court of Appeals agreed with Cleary Gottlieb, finding that the enforcement of the Letter of Request would not conflict with Italian public policy. The Letter of Request was issued in connection with U.S. proceedings involving major Italian companies.
