Cleary Gottlieb Hosts Virtual Global Town Hall on COVID-19

March 27, 2020

Cleary Gottlieb Managing Partner Michael Gerstenzang hosted a virtual global town hall for the firm on COVID-19 with Carlos del Rio, MD, one of the world’s foremost experts in infectious disease prevention and treatment.

Over 1,300 members of the Cleary community joined in on the call from their homes across the globe. Michael provided opening remarks and introduced Dr. del Rio, who is the Executive Associate Dean of Emory School of Medicine at Grady Health System and a Distinguished Professor of Medicine and Global Health at Emory University School of Medicine and the Rollins School of Public Health.

A Q&A session followed Dr. del Rio’s presentation.

Dr. del Rio shared his insights into what we need to know about the science behind the virus and what we can do to contribute to slowing its spread, based on what he has seen on the front lines and his years of experience in the field. He has been one of the most prolific experts during this outbreak, conducting hundreds of interviews for national and local broadcast, print, and web news media, including live appearances on CNN and interviews with a wide variety of leading media outlets, including the Associated Press, Reuters, USA Today, The New York Times, The Washington Post, National Journal, MedPage Today, My Health News Daily, Voice of America, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, NPR, and WABE radio, among numerous others, including international news outlets.
