Cleary Gottlieb Partners Recognized as Cryptocurrency, Blockchain, and FinTech Trailblazers

September 4, 2018

Cleary Gottlieb partners Michael Krimminger, Colin Lloyd, and Pam Marcogliese have been named to the National Law Journal’s inaugural list of Cryptocurrency, Blockchain, and FinTech Trailblazers.

The NLJ’s list profiles lawyers who have “moved the needle” on new technologies and digital currencies, from the development of new products to advising on their regulation.

  • Michael was noted for his recent work advising Paxos Trust Company (formerly itBit Trust Company), the first U.S.-chartered and regulated virtual currency exchange, along with Tradewind and other clients in the blockchain clearing and settlement of structures. He devised new solutions to regulatory issues that had not been considered in cryptocurrency or financial technology law and advised companies involved in virtual currency trading.
  • Colin advised Goldman Sachs in its entry into the cryptocurrency marketplace, Paxos Trust Company on the development of an innovative clearing and settlement system, and other clients looking to provide custodial services.
  • Pam was noted for her counsel to itBit Trust Company on governance issues and securities law. She also advised clients in the ICO space on analysis of establishing alternate exchange platforms and helped clients develop blockchain applications.
