September 19, 2022

Two major transactions on which Cleary Gottlieb acted as counsel in 2021 won awards from the “Club des Trente” at a ceremony held in Paris on September 15, 2022.

The prestigious “Grand Prix” of the 22nd edition for mergers and acquisitions was awarded to Veolia Environnement’s acquisition of Suez, a transaction in which Cleary represented Veolia.

OVHCloud’s IPO was one of two IPOs that won the award for the financial transaction of the year. The jury praised the transaction, led by BNP Paribas, Citi, J.P. Morgan, and KKR Capital Markets, in which Cleary represented OVHCloud.

The other financial transaction award winner was the spinoff of Universal Music Group (UMG) by Vivendi. Cleary advised UMG in securing a five-year €3 billion financing with a consortium of four leading banks ahead of the spinoff.
