Cleary Gottlieb Wins “Most Innovative U.S. Firm in Europe” and “Russian Law Firm of the Year” at the IFLR European Awards 2013

April 11, 2013

At International Financial Law Review’s European Awards 2013, presented in London on April 10, Cleary Gottlieb was named “Most Innovative U.S. Firm in Europe” for the second time and “Russian Law Firm of the Year” for an unprecedented fourth time. The main citation reads:

“Cleary’s 2013 European mandates make it easy to forget it is a U.S.-based firm. Its pioneering work on the Greek PSI immediately comes to mind, but this should not overshadow its work on the MegaFon IPO, Seat Pagine Gialle’s restructure and the Eaton/Cooper deal. The firm is also nominated in five team of the year categories, including for the inaugural financial regulation award.”

Three deals on which the firm advised were also named “Deals of the Year”:

Debt & Equity-linked Deal of the Year
Cleary Gottlieb advised Greece on its “Private Sector Involvement” bond restructuring, the largest-ever bond exchange and the largest sovereign debt restructuring in history.

Equity Deal of the Year
Cleary Gottlieb advised MegaFon on its IPO – “one of the most complex deals of 2012.”

Restructuring Deal of the Year
Cleary Gottlieb advised the senior secured bondholders committee on the restructuring of Italian directory Seat Pagine Gialle.
