Cleary Gottlieb represented Finmeccanica and its subsidiary Alenia Aermacchi in a partnership with Mubadala Development Company. The partnership also involved the creation of a joint venture in the United Arab Emirates between Alenia Aermacchi and Mubadala to construct and operate a final assembly line for the advance lead-in fighter trainer M-346.
This agreement was made in the context of the United Arab Emirates’ announcement that it had started negotiations for the acquisition of 48 M-346 aircraft manufactured by Alenia Aermacchi. The agreement is also part of a broader industrial partnership agreement recently executed by Finmeccanica (through its subsidiary Alenia Aeronautica) and Mubadala that includes provisions for manufacturing composite aerostructures for the civil sector in Abu Dhabi.
