Cleary Gottlieb is advising Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank in connection with a €490 million rights issue of Nyrstar, a leading global multi-metals company, which was announced on February 24.
Since 2009 Nyrstar, originally a pure smelting business, has taken several development initiatives in mining, both to secure raw material supply for its smelters and to gain exposure to the more profitable part of the metals value chain. It recently completed the acquisition of Farallon, Inc., a Toronto-listed mining business.
The transaction will formally launch on February 25, with closing and settlement scheduled to take place on March 18. Cleary Gottlieb previously represented the underwriters in Nyrstar’s €2.0 billion IPO in 2007, and the underwriters in a €150 million convertible bond issue in 2009.
