June 27, 2016

Rahul Mukhi, until recently an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York, has returned to Cleary Gottlieb as a counsel.

He is based in the firm’s New York office and will focus on criminal and regulatory enforcement matters and on civil litigation.

“We are very fortunate to welcome Rahul back to Cleary. Before leaving for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Rahul was a highly regarded associate at the firm. With the addition of his government service and significant trial experience, Rahul will further strengthen our leading global litigation and enforcement practices,” said Cleary Managing Partner Mark Leddy.

Rahul joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York in 2010. He was a lead prosecutor on significant public corruption, financial and tax fraud, health care fraud, money laundering, cybercrime, and international organized crime cases. During his tenure, Rahul successfully conducted 10 jury trials and was responsible for some of the Office’s most high-profile matters. Rahul was one of the lead trial attorneys in the successful prosecution of former New York State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos. In recognition of his achievements, Rahul received the Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service, one of the U.S. Department of Justice’s highest honors.

“Rahul’s experience in the public and private sectors, his versatility, and his leadership skills will be a wonderful complement to our exceptionally skilled litigation team and will allow us to continue to provide the highest-quality legal service to our clients,” said Cleary partner Carmine D. Boccuzzi.

“I’m excited to be rejoining my former colleagues and friends at Cleary,” said Rahul. “I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to work with the dedicated attorneys and staff at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and I look forward to bringing my experience to Cleary’s renowned litigation practice.”
