Ryanair Secures Appeals Against Aid to Condor

June 9, 2021

Cleary Gottlieb and Oswell & Vahida successfully assisted Ryanair before the EU General Court in winning its appeal against the European Commission decision authorizing a total of €550 million in aid to Condor on the grounds of inadequate reasoning.

In order to avoid immediate recovery of the measure in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the General Court decided to suspend the effects of the annulment of the contested decision pending the adoption of a new decision by the Commission.

Cleary and Oswell & Vahida are assisting Ryanair before the EU Courts in a total of 21 appeals against Commission decisions authorizing State aid granted by a number of Member States to rival air carriers.

The judgment for case T-665/20 was issued on June 9, 2021.
