The UK Government Consults on Corporate Governance Reform: What Next?

On 29 November 2016, Prime Minister Theresa May’s government issued a green paper to canvass opinion on proposed reforms to the UK’s corporate governance framework.

Proposed measures centre around executive remuneration and incentivisation, the representation of employees and other stakeholders in company decision-making and enhancing governance standards for large private companies. We look in detail at each area considered for reform in the green paper and, to focus consideration and discussion, draw out selected key questions posed as part of the government’s consultation.
