The Supreme Court Relaxes Standard for Enhanced Damages in Patent Infringement Suits

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court issued its opinion in Halo Electronics, Inc. v. Pulse Electronics and Stryker Corp., et al. v. Zimmer, Inc.

The ruling rejected the Federal Circuit’s multi-part test for enhanced damages in patent infringement suits, and adopting in its place a far more relaxed standard that is expected to increase the availability of enhanced damages in patent litigation.
