Gianluca Russo’s practice focuses on Italian and international tax matters.

He advises Italian and foreign clients on the domestic and international tax aspects of extraordinary corporate transactions, M&A and private equity transactions, as well as on the taxation of investment funds and financial products. 

He also regularly advises on compensation and benefits matters, advising companies and executives in the negotiation and preparation of employment contracts and management incentive plans, as well as on the tax implications of such contracts and incentive plans.

Gianluca also provides specialized advice to individuals, families and family offices in the planning and restructuring of family assets, the establishment of trusts and succession planning.

Gianluca joined the firm’s Rome office in 2004, and was resident in the New York office from 2006 to 2007.

  • Advisor to the Worldline group, a global leader in payment services, on the tax aspects of its long-term strategic partnership with Credem in the merchant acquiring business.

  • Advisor to the Worldline group, a global leader in payment services, on the tax aspects of its long-term strategic partnership with Credem in the merchant acquiring business.

  • Advisor to LVMH on its indirect investment in Moncler through the acquisition of a stake in Double R, an investment vehicle controlled by Ruffini Partecipazioni Holding.

  • Advisor to Oaktree on its disposal of Banca Progetto to Centerbridge.

  • Advisor to Global Infrastructure Partners on the tax aspects of the disposal of a participation in Italo - Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori to MSC.

  • Advisor to Allianz Capital Partners on the reinvestment in the high-speed rail operator Italo - Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori in connection with MSC’s acquisition of approximately 50% stake in Italo from Global Infrastructure Partners.
