Legal Tech Project Manager

Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP Germany is looking for a “Legal Tech Project Manager (f/m/d)” in the Frankfurt am Main or Cologne Office (full-time, fixed-term).

The successful candidate will work with our Senior Attorney/Litigations, Chief Information Officer/Information Technology, Chief Legal Operations Officer/Admin Operations, and local IT Germany to kick off and implement new legal tech solutions for the litigation and antitrust practice.



  • Optimize use of our “all-in-one” case management platform:
    • Identify workflows in the handling of documents that can be automated.
    • Implement automated workflows to handle incoming/outgoing documents in a case file.
    • Configuration of case management platform for specific needs of clients and case teams.
    • Work with external vendor to identify additional features to increase efficiency of document handling.
    • Oversight of development and implementation of new technical solutions.
    • Work with the team to ensure full adoption of all capabilities.
  • Partner with the practice, Information Technology and Operations to refine the support/ intervention provided alongside the technology on client related matters.
  • Establish workflow to leverage our database tool for future client matters, particularly more complex litigation cases.
  • Identify use cases for bringing this type of automation to other work in the EMEA practice outside of Germany.
  • Regular reporting.
  • Continuously monitor the legal and other industries regarding AI and legal technology. Develop and foster relationships with providers.



  • Communication, leadership, and emotional intelligence are important skills needed in this role along with an understanding of knowledge management, information management, data governance, legal tech, and AI.
  • High-level proficiency in technology and AI and the impact on legal industry.
  • Proven experience of developing and implementing successful legal tech solutions and AI programs.
  • Collaboration and facilitation skills to work with various departments and facilitate their ability to work with each other.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated instances of taking initiative and overseeing an organizational change in an effective manner.
  • Preferable legal background (LLB or LLM) with experience with both law firm and technology or information provider.
  • Fluent in English and German
