Brussels Bar Helpdesk Project Wins PILnet Local Impact Award

November 4, 2022

The Legal Helpdesk for Asylum Seekers in Belgium, organized by the Brussels Bar Association in collaboration with law firms and local NGOs, has won the 2022 PILnet Local Impact Award.

Launched in April 2022, the Helpdesk has enabled thousands of displaced persons to access adequate accommodation, food, and medical care. A Cleary Gottlieb team, comprised of associates Ségolène Allègre, Inés Pérez Fernández, and Carmen Rubio Bañeres and project attorney Hakima Ben Azzouz, has joined these important efforts to support asylum seekers in Belgium.

The PILnet Local Impact Award recognizes the best, innovative pro bono legal project with an impact felt at the local or national level.
