Dimagi Secures $10 Million OPIC Loan

Cleary Gottlieb represented pro bono client Dimagi Inc. (Dimagi), a social enterprise and certified B-corp, in securing a $10 million loan from the Overseas Private Investment Corp.

Dimagi intends to use the loan proceeds to support its current information technologies products and operations in South Africa, India, Senegal, and Tanzania, as well as its planned expansion into Myanmar and Guatemala.

Founded in 2002, Dimagi is an award-winning, socially conscious technology company that builds open-source mobile applications to increase and improve service delivery to underserved communities around the world. The group has a focus on the delivery of quality health care and has designed mobile technologies to perform case management, decision support, data collection and health system monitoring, and patient-level disease management. They have engaged in technical strategy, systems design, software development, and research for more than 500 projects in 60 countries, including some of the most remote corners of the world. For instance, Dimagi works with the Ministry of Women & Child Development in India, who use Dimagi’s technology across 175,000 mobile workers, reaching more than 250 million people, and are currently tracking one in every 120 births in the world each month.
