Client Account Manager - EME
Reporting to the Associate Director, Revenue - EME, this role is responsible for jointly managing the European revenue team which supports Partners and other senior lawyers throughout all phases of the billing, collection and related client management processes.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing the daily activities of the European revenue team / direct reports (around 8 – 10 individual contributors), including but not limited to:
- monitoring the volume of bills being prepared;
- checking the quality of the invoices being sent to Partners, senior lawyers and clients;
- proactively managing the timeliness of bill preparation;
- overseeing regular engagement with clients, partners and fee earners to ensure timely recovery of aged debt;
- providing timely and accurate reporting to assist with reducing lock-up; and
- ensuring open and frequent communication between direct reports and the Partners they support.
- Responsible for the operational day to day activities for the region, including assisting with billing and collections when required and ensuring adequate coverage is provided when direct reports are on leave.
- Regular monitoring of bill processing status and other necessary follow up tasks to ensure successful processing and timely payment to the firm.
- Reviewing and monitoring client billing arrangements and other related information maintained in the firm’s matter intake system MatterHub and Entity Manager.
- Proactively identifying improvements to billing and collections processes and assisting with implementing best practice.
- Collaborating with Partners to ensure timely bill preparation, review and submission. Providing analysis support and regular reporting.
- Preparing internal billing and collections projections and undertaking the initial review of the monthly unbilled time and accounts receivable priority report.
- Keeping up to date with current VAT rules and regulations and collaborating with local Accounting and Finance Teams for compliance purposes.
- Assisting with onboarding new clients and communicating with clients on a variety of topics.
- Advise partners on progress in chasing outstanding debts and coordinate with them regarding action to be taken to recover seriously overdue debts.
- Complete debt write-offs (when necessary) obtaining partner/management authorisation and updated documentation.
- Training new revenue team members and conducting required ongoing training for all team members.
- Responsibility for annual performance reviews of direct reports and proactively managing their professional development to ensure the best possible service delivery from the function.
- Travel to offices across EME as necessary dependent on business needs, building and maintaining strong working relationships with partners, senior lawyers, direct reports, finance team members and other professional staff colleagues across the region and globally.
- Participating in ad-hoc projects, including revenue system upgrades.

- Experience in using Aderant would be preferred.
- Excellent command of English – a strong working knowledge of any additional European language (ideally French) would be a real advantage.
- Educated to degree level.
Experience
- Proven professional services revenue experience of at least 10 years, with 5 years of people management experience in some capacity.
- Experience in implementing procedural and operational revenue improvements.
- Experience in a similar senior role at a professional services firm and/or law firm experience a plus.
