Business Development Specialist, M&A and Private Equity
The Business Development Specialist will play a key role in supporting the strategic objectives and driving growth for the EMEA M&A practice, EMEA Private Equity practice, and the specialist practices.
The role will also work closely with lawyers and other members of the Global Business Development (BD) team.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare pitches and RFP responses, directory and award submissions, and league tables; and develop/maintain practice group credentials and other relevant materials, ensuring that each is thoughtfully tailored to the specific opportunity at hand.
- Work closely with senior BD team members and practice leadership on global and local cross-selling and client targeting efforts, including as they relate to the firm’s key client programme.
- Support and attend practice group meetings, develop agendas, document key takeaways, and follow up on agreed actions.
- Assist in maintaining the practice’s strategic business plans and track progress on a continual basis.
- Work with the Competitive Intelligence team and conduct research on existing and prospective clients, competitor activity, firm/client connections, and industry or market trends.
- Liaise with the Events team to plan and execute internal and external events, seminars, and webinars, and assist with sponsorships.
- Work with the BD team’s assistants and the legal assistants to maintain and update BD activities and mailing lists in the Firm’s CRM system and practice experience in the Firm’s experience management system.
- Coordinate with other teams such as PR/Comms, Marketing, Content Strategies, Digital, etc. to ensure a seamless process that will help raise the profile of the firm and these practices.
- Support BD teams in other practice groups and regions on projects and other Firm initiatives as needed.
Skills and Competencies
Education/Experience:
- A minimum of three years of relevant business development experience in a professional services firm. Previous corporate law firm experience is highly desirable.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent. Experience with M&A and Private Equity is highly desirable.
Skills:
- General knowledge of business and financial markets, with a particular interest in M&A and Private Equity.
