Cleary Gottlieb is looking for a Product Engineer who knows how to use modern AI-assisted development tools to move quickly, work independently, and deliver meaningful output.
We are looking for a builder with strong technical judgment, a high degree of ownership, and the ability to use tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot in VS Code to accelerate development.
In a traditional workflow, a strong engineer might ship two pull requests per day. In this role, with the right tooling and approach, we are looking for someone who can consistently ship six to ten high-quality PRs per day when work is scoped appropriately.
We are interested in candidates who can get up to speed quickly, operate with a high degree of autonomy, and maintain momentum from day one.
Main Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of features and technical tasks from idea through delivery
- Use AI-assisted development tools to speed up implementation, debugging, iteration, and review
- Ship small, frequent, high-quality pull requests
- Work independently and make sound product and engineering decisions
- Translate rough ideas into working product quickly
- Surface blockers early and propose solutions proactively
- Drive execution and deliver results at pace, with a high degree of autonomy
Skills and Competencies:
- Minimum of 3 years software engineering experience
- Proficiency in Python and TypeScript
- Proven experience in building and shipping an application end-to-end, including to production
- Experience using tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot via VS Code, and similar AI-assisted workflows in a practical way
- Strong communicator
- Comfortable taking initiative and adapting quickly to deliver results
- Good judgment around scope, prioritisation, and delivery
- Able to work effectively with shifting priorities and limited information
