Cleary Gottlieb celebrated its Citywide Diversity Reception on July 28, 2016, featuring keynote speaker Darren Walker, President of the Ford Foundation. Darren is a Cleary alumnus and was named one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World” by Time magazine in 2016.
Over 400 guests, including law school students, alumni and members of minority bar organizations, attended the reception. Cleary Managing Partner Mark Leddy gave opening remarks, focusing on the many ways diversity strengthens the firm and its practice. Kimberly Brown Blacklow moderated a discussion, during which Darren encouraged the attendees to become active participants in the fight against inequality, embrace diversity and value philanthropy.
The reception also highlighted Cleary’s collaboration with the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) program for more than 25 years, and the more than 70 SEO Corporate Law Interns throughout the New York City area.
