July 18, 2019

Overview

New York, New York

Cleary Gottlieb hosted a breakfast seminar at its Midtown office, “The California Consumer Privacy Act – A Practical Approach,” which was the inaugural session of the Privacy Roundtable Breakfast Series for in-house lawyers.

The California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA), currently scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2020, applies to for-profit entities around the world doing business in California that collect and process personal information of California residents (with some exclusions). In this session, we discussed steps businesses need to take to become compliant, propose some strategies to reduce compliance costs, and highlight the potential legislative changes of which in-house counsel should be aware.

Discussion Leaders

  • Katherine Mooney Carroll, Partner, Cleary Gottlieb
