Cleary Gottlieb represented the Albanian-American Enterprise Fund in its sale of 80% of the shares of the American Bank of Albania, a leading Albanian banking institution, to Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A. The remaining 20% of the bank shares owned by the Albanian-American Enterprise Fund will be subject to put and call options. The agreement was signed on December 21, 2006, and the deal closed on June 29, 2007.
