ArcelorMittal in Acquisition of ThyssenKrupp Steel USA through Joint Venture with Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation

Cleary Gottlieb advised ArcelorMittal on the antitrust aspects of its $1.55 billion joint venture with Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation to acquire ThyssenKrupp Steel USA (TK Steel USA) from ThyssenKrupp. TK Steel USA is a steel processing plant in Calvert, Alabama, that includes hot rolling, cold rolling, coating and finishing lines.

The transaction was announced on November 29, 2013 and closed on February 26, 2014.
