ASM Pacific Technology in the Acquisition of Assembly System Business from Siemens

Cleary Gottlieb is representing Hong Kong based ASM Pacific Technology in the acquisition of Siemens Electronic Assembly Systems from Siemens. The acquisition is subject to approval by the antitrust authorities and ASMPT’s shareholders.

ASM Pacific Technology is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and has almost 12,000 employees worldwide and more than €425 million in sales. It is one of the world’s leaders in the production of chip assembly and bonding equipment. ASMPT is majority-owned by ASMI which is based in The Netherlands and listed on Nasdaq and Euronext Amsterdam. ASMI is one of the world’s leading suppliers for the semiconductor and LED industry.

SEAS has around 1,200 employees worldwide, including 630 at its headquarters in Munich, Germany. The company is one of the world’s leading suppliers of assembly systems for the electronics industry.
