Bâloise in Acquisition of Wilhelm Herrmann Assekuranz and Wilhelm Herrmann Assekuranz Makler

Cleary Gottlieb advised Bâloise Beteiligungs-Holding in the acquisition of Wilhelm Herrmann Assekuranz and Wilhelm Herrmann Assekuranz Makler by way of an investment vehicle. The parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The transaction was signed and closed on March 31.

Established in 1905 in Karlsruhe, Assekuranz Herrmann is one of the largest distribution partners of Basler Versicherungen with an existing volume of €60 million. For Basler, acquiring Assekuranz Herrmann largely had strategic significance. The distribution power of Basler Versicherungen is expected to be substantially reinforced in southwestern Germany as a result of the acquisition of the agency and brokerage firm.
