Cleary Gottlieb Receives Top Honors at IFLR Americas Dinner; Wins “U.S. Law Firm of the Year” and Six Other Awards

Cleary Gottlieb received top honors at International Financial Law Review’s Americas Awards 2011, winning seven awards, including “U.S. Law Firm of the Year.” The firm was also named “Debt and Equity-Linked Team of the Year” and “Equity Team of the Year” at the awards dinner held in New York on March 31. Additionally, Cleary Gottlieb received awards for its roles on four “Deals of the Year,” including the “Debt and Equity-Linked Deal of the Year,” “Equity Deal of the Year,” “M&A Deal of the Year” and “Restructuring Deal of the Year.”

The firm was counsel to long-time client Vale on its Euro-denominated note offer, which was named “Debt and Equity-Linked Deal of the Year.”

Bank of America’s preferred share sale of Itaú Unibanco was named “Equity Deal of the Year.” Cleary Gottlieb represented Bank of America on this $4.4 billion stake sale.

The firm advised FEMSA in its $7.6 billion strategic exchange with Heineken, named “M&A Deal of the Year.”

Controladora Comercial Mexicana’s restructuring was named “Restructuring Deal of the Year.” Cleary Gottlieb was counsel to the ad hoc committee of international bank creditors of Controladora Comercial Mexicana.
