Cleary Gottlieb Counsel in Five IFR “Deals of the Year”

Five deals on which Cleary Gottlieb advised during 2011 were named “Deals of the Year” by International Financing Review.

The award-winning deals are:

Subordinated Financial Bond of the Year: Credit Suisse’s Tier 2 Buffer Capital Notes offering. (Cleary Gottlieb represented Credit Suisse.)

Latin American Bond of the Year: Petrobras’s three-tranche $6 billion offering. (Cleary Gottlieb represented Petrobras.)

EMEA Restructuring of the Year: Truvo’s restructuring of €1.5 billion in debt. (Cleary Gottlieb represented Truvo.)

EMEA Equity Issue of the Year: Commerzbank’s €11 billion capital increase. (Cleary Gottlieb represented Commerzbank.)

Americas Structured Equity Issue of the Year: AIG’s sale of $9.5 billion in MetLife securities. (Cleary Gottlieb represented Goldman Sachs and Citigroup as underwriters in AIG’s $3.3 billion sale of Common Equity Units of MetLife, which was part of the larger sale highlighted by IFR.)
