February 19, 2013

Cleary Gottlieb advised on three transactions named “Deals of the Year” by Euromoney in February.

Cleary Gottlieb advised the Hellenic Republic in its €206 billion private sector involvement debt exchange. The transaction was named “Global Markets Deal of the Year,” and was credited for restoring “some form of financial health and stability to Greece.”

The firm also advised Sberbank and the Central Bank of Russia in Sberbank’s $5.21 billion equity follow-on offering. The transaction was credited with “single-handedly reviving the region’s moribund primary equity markets,” and was named “Emerging Europe Deal of the Year.”

Finally, Cleary Gottlieb advised América Móvil in its Ps15 billion global peso 10-year bond offering. The transaction was named “Latin American Deal of the Year.” Euromoney noted the “transaction’s innovation” in creating a corporate alternative to Mexico’s public-sector peso-denominated debt.
