Cleary Gottlieb Named Corporate Finance Group of the Year by Law360

January 19, 2011

Cleary Gottlieb’s Corporate Finance/M&A practice has been named one of the top five Corporate Finance/M&A practice groups of the year by Law360. The practice was selected based on the size, number and complexity of deals the group worked on in 2010. In a January 13 article profiling the practice, Cleary Gottlieb was noted for its involvement in many of the most widely observed transactions in 2010 and the versatility across the firm’s practice areas and geographies. In addition, the firm’s representation of BHP Billiton ($39 billion bid for Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan), Nortel Networks (ongoing bankruptcy, including related divestitures totaling roughly $1.2 billion), Grupo Bimbo (acquisition of Sara Lee’s North American bakery unit), and JPMorgan Chase ($1.7 billion acquisition of RBS Sempra Commodities’ global oils, metals, agricultural, plastics and European energies commodities operations.), among others, was mentioned.
