Cleary Gottlieb Receives Bank of America’s 2021-2022 Diversity and Inclusion Award

January 17, 2023

Cleary Gottlieb has been awarded Bank of America’s Diversity and Inclusion Business Council (DIBC) 2021-2022 Diversity and Inclusion Award.

The award recognizes a firm’s commitment to building a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive legal industry and its support of Bank of America’s diversity, equity, and inclusion missions and goals. Cleary was selected from over 130 law firms that completed diversity reports in response to DIBC’s survey, using multiple criteria, including diverse staffing on its matters, efforts to recruit, retain, mentor, platform, and promote diverse attorneys, and the firms’ community outreach.

Over the years, Cleary and Bank of America have collaborated on numerous DE&I efforts and initiatives, including mentorships, CLEs, pro bono clinics, summer associate partnerships, and secondments.

“We are honored that Bank of America has recognized Cleary for our DE&I efforts, especially as we’ve recommitted to this work and expanded and innovated initiatives and programs dedicated to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion at Cleary and in the broader legal industry,” said Cleary partner Paul Shim, who accepted the award on behalf of Cleary.

DIBC’s mission is to actively promote a diverse and inclusive environment. One of the ways it seeks to accomplish this mission is to partner with both majority- and minority-owned law firms to pursue their shared goals of increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the legal profession.
