Cleary Gottlieb Represents Isabella Freedman’s Merge with Hazon

January 2, 2014

Cleary represented pro bono client Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center, a non-profit organization that supports programs to strengthen Jewish spirituality, identity and community, including through retreats and events at a facility in rural Connecticut, in its merger with Hazon, a non-profit organization that supports cross-denominational projects, Jewish social entrepreneurship and a focus on vision in Jewish communities in the United States and worldwide, through a wide range of environmental, health and sustainability focused programming. The merger was announced in December 2012 and closed on January 2, 2014. The merged entity, named Hazon, Inc., focuses on creating healthier and more sustainable communities within and beyond the Jewish world.

The merger provides Isabella Freedman and Hazon with the opportunity to supplement and expand their existing programming, as well as initiate and support expanded programming, thereby allowing the joint organization to reach a broader population of individuals and communities.
