Cleary Gottlieb Strengthens Preeminent Capital Markets Practice with Counsel Maria Larsen

Cleary Gottlieb announced today that Maria Larsen joined the firm as counsel in the top-ranked capital markets practice.

She is based in New York.

Maria is the latest in a series of strategic additions to Cleary’s capital markets practice in 2026, following the arrivals of derivatives partner Lin Yu in July and equity capital markets partners Ilir Mujalovic and Harald Halbhuber in February. She joins an award-winning capital markets practice that has been continuously recognized by Chambers USA and Chambers Global for handling complex capital markets transactions. In 2026, the firm achieved multiple Band 1 Capital Markets recognitions, including for Investment Grade Debt, Issuer Counsel in the U.S. and International Counsel in Latin America.

Maria is a highly skilled lawyer with more than 14 years of experience across U.S. and Latin America capital markets matters. She advises investment banks, financial institutions, corporate issuers, sovereigns, and sponsors across a wide range of transaction types. These include investment grade and high-yield debt, equity offerings, liability management transactions, sovereign financings, and public and private cross-border offerings across industries such as financial services, banking, retail, and energy. Prior to joining Cleary, Maria was counsel at another large international law firm.
