Cleary Gottlieb has won the Collaboration Award at the first-annual National Literacy Trust Business Awards, which also served to launch the 2022 Vision for Literacy Business Pledge.
The award recognizes Cleary’s extensive support to the National Literacy Trust through volunteering and fundraising. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Cleary has partnered with NLT to offer online materials, CV reviews, and mock interviews to those learning from home. In 2021, Cleary Gottlieb hosted 20 young people across the UK for the Words for Work Virtual Internship, which offered students aged 15-18 a first-hand insight into various careers in the legal profession.
Cleary is also a founding member of Leaders for Literacy: Law, a roundtable of law firms committed to addressing the literacy challenge in the United Kingdom.
Now in its seventh year, the Vision for Literacy Business Pledge calls on businesses to support the literacy levels of children and young people to protect them from future unemployment. The firm is one of 88 businesses from across the UK that have signed the pledge.
