Cleary Gottlieb has won Law360’s Competition Practice Group of the Year award for its work helping multiple clients navigate complex antitrust matters.
The competition team was recognized for securing antitrust approval from the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Communications Commission for the T-Mobile’s acquisition of Sprint. “What is unique about Cleary is the ability to combine the litigation expertise with the regulatory approval expertise. And the economics at the highest level,” said Cleary partner George Cary in the Law360 article. “I think all of those skills, which are the centerpiece of how we organize our practice, were called upon in this case to a level that I have not seen before.”
Cleary also guided Disney in its $71.3 billion deal for 21st Century Fox’s entertainment assets, which successfully secured merger clearance in 2019. Law360 also highlighted the competition team’s work in securing a major win on behalf of NSK, defeating a class certification related to a multidistrict litigation over auto part price-fixing.
This award is one of three Law360 Practice Group of the Year awards that the firm has received for 2019. To read Law360’s full profile on Cleary’s global competition group, click here.
