Cleary Gottlieb Wins "M&A Deal of the Year" and "National Award" for Russia at IFLR European Awards

Cleary Gottlieb won both M&A Deal of the Year and the National Award for Russia at the 2007 International Financial Law Review’s European Awards Night. These honors were presented at a dinner on March 14, 2007 at the Natural History Museum in London.

Cleary Gottlieb received the M&A Deal of the Year for its representation of Mittal Steel in its successful unsolicited €26.6 billion bid for Arcelor, a deal that united the world’s two largest steel companies. The firm also earned IFLR’s National Award for work done in Russia. Recent transactions that Cleary Gottlieb has worked on in Russia include representation of Rosneft in its $10.6 billion IPO, the largest by a Russian company and the largest-ever London listing, as well as advising Gallery Group on the first-ever high yield debt offering by a Russian company.
