Cleary Gottlieb Wins Trio of FinanceAsia 2006 Deal of the Year Awards

January 5, 2007

Cleary Gottlieb was counsel in three of FinanceAsia’s recently announced 2006 Deals of the Year. The firm represented the underwriters in the $255 million IPO of Indian outsourcing company WNS Holdings, which was awarded “Best Mid-cap Equity Deal.” FinanceAsia praised this transaction for its “pioneering role” in the region; WNS Holdings is the first India-based business process outsourcing company to list on the New York Stock Exchange.

Cleary Gottlieb was counsel to the underwriters in the Republic of Philippines $2.1 billion dual currency eurobond, a transaction awarded “Best Sovereign Bond” by FinanceAsia. The publication noted that Citigroup, CSFB, Deutsche Bank and UBS, which were represented by Cleary Gottlieb, completed the deal with “flawless execution that saw the deal stride effortlessly from mandate to pricing in under 48-hours.”

The firm also represented the Republic of Indonesia in its $2 billion debt offering, which won FinanceAsia’s “Best Indonesia Deal.” FinanceAsia noted that this transaction “marked a resurgence for Indonesia as a successful borrower in the international debt markets.”
