Cleary Gottlieb has been named the 2016 “Securities Team of the Year” at The Asian Lawyer’s Asia Legal Awards 2016. The firm was noted for its 2015 Asia securities portfolio, which was “stacked with impressive deals.”
Cleary also won “M&A Deal of the Year: North Asia” for its work on Tesco’s $6.4 billion sale of Korean supermarket chain Homeplus to MBK Partners, the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board and Temasek. The firm represented MBK Partners in the transaction, which was one of the largest private equity deals of 2015 and the largest buyout ever in South Korea.
The Asia Legal Awards, presented on March 3 in Hong Kong, recognize the region’s top lawyers, law firms and in-house counsel.
