Cleary Gottlieb Wins Two IDD Deals of the Year

Cleary Gottlieb has received two 2007 “Deal of the Year” awards from Investment Dealers’ Digest (IDD). Cleary Gottlieb advised TPG in its $27.5 billion leveraged buyout of Alltel, the transaction honored as Telecom Deal of the Year by IDD. The publication underscored that this acquisition was “one for the books ... the largest LBO in the U.S. telecom sector, the second-largest LBO and the fifth-largest M&A transaction in 2007.”

Cleary Gottlieb also advised Istithmar in its $942 million acquisition of luxury department store Barneys New York, the transaction awarded IDD’s Retail Deal of the Year and heralded as “one of the first acquisitions of a branded U.S. retailer by a sovereign wealth fund” by the publication.
