Cleary Gottlieb advised on five 2014 matters recognized by FinanceAsia and China Business Law Journal as “Deals of the Year,” announced in January. The winning transactions include:

  • Lenovo’s acquisition of IBM’s x86 server business – FinanceAsia’s “Best China Deal of the Year” and one of China Business Law Journal’s “Overseas M&A Deals of the Year.” Cleary represented Lenovo.
  • The Republic of Korea’s $2 billion dual-tranche multi-currency bond – FinanceAsia’s “Best Sovereign Bond of the Year.” Cleary represented the Republic.
  • Blackstone’s take private of Pactera Technology – FinanceAsia’s “Best Private Equity Deal of the Year.” Cleary represented the management members in the buyer consortium.
  • Whirlpool’s acquisition of Hefei Sanyo – one of China Business Law Journal’s “Domestic M&A Deals of the Year.” Cleary represented Whirlpool.
  • WH Group’s Hong Kong IPO – one of China Business Law Journal’s “Overseas Equity Capital Market Deals of the Year.” Cleary represented the underwriters.
