Cleary Gottlieb represented Colbun S.A., a Chilean energy utility, in connection with a $160 million financing, which consisted of four bi-lateral credit agreements between Colbun and each of Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, HSBC and Scotiabank, each in the amount of $40 million, with Scotiabank originating two of the four loans. Three of the loans closed on June 8th and the fourth loan closed on June 20th.
Colbun focuses on renewable-source energy generation, principally hydroelectric and thermoelectric generation, and is one of the largest energy providers to Chile’s power grid.
